3.2 Chemical equations
1. A word equation is a simple representation of a chemical process using the names of the compounds.
In a chemical equation the formulas of substances are used and you make sure the numbers of atoms of each kind on either side of the arrow are equal.
2.a) table salt (s) → sodium (s) + chlorine (g)
b) acetone (l) + oxygen (g) → carbon dioxide (g) + water (l)
c) sulfur trioxide (g) + water (l) → sulfuric acid (aq)
